Emerging Trends in Information Technology and Cybersecurity: A Comprehensive Review

Abstract

Digital systems have undergone a dramatic change thanks to the fast pace of evolution of Information Technology (IT) and are currently facing new challenges in terms of cybersecurity. This review covers some of the emerging trends in IT and cyber security including AI/ML, Cloud and Edge Computing, Internet of Things (IoT), Zero Trust Architecture, Block chain, Quantum Computing and Advanced Cyber Threats. The study points to the potential of these technologies to be used to facilitate automation, connectivity, efficiency and enhanced security. It also addresses the threats of ransom ware, data breaches, privacy intrusion, advanced cyber-attacks and vulnerabilities in connected systems. Last, future research avenues focusing on secure innovation, proactive defense, privacy, resilience and post-quantum security are discussed.
