Editorial Policies

The publication of scholarly work in a peer-reviewed journal is a critical component in the advancement of credible scientific knowledge. It reflects the rigor of the research as well as the integrity of the authors and their affiliated institutions.

Global Trends in Science and Technology (GTST) is committed to maintaining high ethical standards throughout the publication process. The following principles outline the responsibilities of all parties involved, including editors, reviewers, authors, and the publisher.

Responsibilities of Editors

1. Editorial Decisions

Editors are responsible for determining whether submitted manuscripts are suitable for publication. Decisions are based on:

  • Scientific merit and originality
  • Relevance to the journal’s scope
  • Clarity and quality of the work

Editors may consult peer reviewers, editorial board members, or subject experts before making a final decision. All decisions must also comply with applicable legal and ethical considerations, including copyright, plagiarism, and defamation.

2. Impartial Evaluation

Manuscripts are assessed solely on academic merit. Editorial decisions are made without discrimination based on:

  • Gender, ethnicity, or nationality
  • Religious or political beliefs
  • Institutional affiliation or personal background

The journal is committed to ensuring fairness and equal opportunity for all authors.

3. Confidentiality

Editors and editorial staff must treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential. Information regarding submissions should only be shared with:

  • Corresponding authors
  • Assigned reviewers
  • Editorial board members
  • The publisher (when necessary)

Confidential information must not be disclosed to unauthorized individuals.

4. Conflicts of Interest and Ethical Conduct

Editors must avoid situations where personal or professional interests could influence editorial decisions. Specifically:

  • Editors must not use unpublished data or ideas from submitted manuscripts for personal research without explicit permission from the authors
  • Information obtained during peer review must remain confidential
  • Editors should recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where a conflict of interest exists (e.g., personal, academic, or financial relationships)

Authors are also required to disclose any competing interests. If undisclosed conflicts are identified after publication, appropriate actions such as corrections or retractions will be taken.

5. Maintaining Research Integrity

Editors are responsible for safeguarding the integrity of the scholarly record. This includes:

  • Addressing allegations of research misconduct
  • Investigating ethical concerns in collaboration with reviewers, editorial board members, and the publisher
  • Issuing corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern when necessary

The journal takes all ethical concerns seriously and follows established guidelines to ensure transparency and accountability.
