Policy on the Use of Generative AI by Authors

Global Trends in Science and Technology recognizes that Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) tools (such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, and similar technologies) may assist authors during manuscript preparation. However, the use of such tools must be transparent, responsible, and consistent with principles of academic integrity.

Permitted Uses

Authors may use GenAI tools for:

  • Language editing and grammar improvement.
  • Improving readability and clarity of text.
  • Organizing ideas and drafting non-scientific text.
  • Formatting references or assisting with manuscript preparation.

Disclosure Requirement

Authors must disclose any significant use of GenAI tools in the manuscript. A statement should be included in the manuscript before the References section or in the Acknowledgments section.

Example Disclosure Statement:

"During the preparation of this manuscript, the authors used [Tool Name] to assist with language editing and text refinement. The authors reviewed and edited all generated content and take full responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of the final manuscript."

Prohibited Uses

Authors must not:

  • List AI tools as authors or co-authors.
  • Use AI-generated content without human review and verification.
  • Fabricate, falsify, or manipulate research data using AI tools.
  • Generate fake references, citations, figures, images, or experimental results.
  • Use AI in ways that violate copyright, confidentiality, or ethical standards.

Author Responsibility

Authors remain fully responsible for:

  • The accuracy of all content.
  • The originality of the work.
  • Proper citation and attribution.
  • Compliance with ethical and legal requirements.

The use of GenAI does not diminish the responsibility of authors for the submitted work.

Use of GenAI by Reviewers

Reviewers must not upload confidential manuscripts, figures, supplementary materials, or peer-review reports into GenAI systems unless explicit permission has been granted by the journal and all confidentiality requirements are met.

Use of GenAI by Editors

Editors may use GenAI tools only to support administrative or language-related tasks. Editorial decisions must be made solely by qualified human editors. GenAI tools shall not replace editorial judgment.
